You and your secrets again. Fine~ We'll allow it this time. Just don't cause anymore problems.
I'll be over soon. Gotta know the critters I'm working with. Want anything?
April 7th, evening | voice
I'll leave the problems to my pets.
You maaaay want to bring something that a pig might want to eat. He's grumpy since I'm getting ready for work.
April 7th, evening | voice --> action
Haha. See ya in a bit, Souji.
[There was a knock on the door of House 50 about a half an hour later. Cliff needed to take a quick detour to the store before he arrived to see if he could find something that was suitable for a pig. He wasn't sure what they ate...]
April 7th, evening | voice --> action
Alright. See you soon.
[Half an hour later and Souji was ready for work, having finished dinner and was entertaining himself by trying to get Saizou and Fish to stop trying to kill each other. He heard the knock and got up, making the chicken flee back to Souji's room with the pig squealing on its heels. He only laughed at the scene, knowing that Fish would end up on the bookcase again and Saizou would be stuck on the ground, grunting at it, then went to the door, opening it.]
Good evening, Cliff-san.
April 7th, evening | action
[It was said as if it were an afterthought as he peered in the door, suspicious about the noises he heard from the doorstep.]
Uh. Sounds like a mess in there.
...
Was that a chicken?
April 7th, evening | action
[Souji, being a clean freak and living with an angel, is right - the house is actually very well kept and very clean. He sees a feather on the floor and leans down, picking it up to throw away later.]
And yes. That was Fish. She should be up on the bookcase by now.
Saizou~ Stop chasing her and come say hello.
[The squealing stops and a pig comes sauntering out of his room, stopping when he sees Cliff. His face practically screams: What. What is this. Who is this new human. 8(]
April 7th, evening | action
I meant with the pig and the chicken...
[He trailed when he caught sight of the
terrifiedlittle pig, equally taken aback by the creature as Saizou was of him. Cliff was expecting him to be a little larger.Hefting the bag he brought from the store in his hands, Cliff knelt down to be closer to Saizou's level and reached in for the spoils of his trip --
a tuna sandwich.
no one said he knew what he was doing.]
Hey. I was told you might want something to eat?
April 7th, evening | action
According to Saizou, this new person was tall like Hijikata and Sano and a lot of other tall people, some of whom he liked and some of whom he did not.
B( He could not be trusted.
Saizou inched closer, stopped, stared up at Cliff and then suddenly ran and jumped, aiming to headbutt him in the forehead.]
April 7th, evening | action
rather intimidatingstranger. Each inch gave Cliff a little more confidence in his choice of food for the little guy and, subsequently, the possibility that he'd be able to take care of something and not accidentally kill it.After everything that happened in the field with Souji, he'd hate to be responsible for that.]
Yea, that's right. It's a pretty good sandwich. Thought you'd prefer it over dog--
[He didn't have time to finish his sentence before -- suddenly flying pig! None of his training for the last twenty years had prepared him for little pigs performing an Acrobat Locus and, utterly dumbfounded, he froze just long enough for the pig to collide with his face.
Stunned, he fell backward onto the wooden floor. What in the world was up with that...?
Seconds later he was up on his feet, staring down at the little pig from his full height.]
What was that for you ungrateful little jerk?!
April 7th, evening | action
He really did need to train Saizou better, but at the same time, things like these were just the best amusement in the world. Keeping a hand clamped firmly over his mouth, Souji turned away, shoulders shaking at the strain of keeping himself composed.]
April 7th, evening | action
[Not that he would do more than toss a pillow at it. Saizou was a friend's pet. He couldn't do more.
Irritated, Cliff huffed and turned away, crossing his arms as he tried to settle his own flaring temper. It had taken him years of practice to develop his patience, but he still had his limits. Albel pushed them whenever they met. That fuzzy-tailed half-pint also pushed them, but that wasn't something that Cliff needed to consider.
He glanced over his shoulder at the sound of Souji's stifled laughter.]
Don't say it. I know. I got served by a little piggy.
[His tone was flat and unamused, although he knew that it probably would be funny in hindsight.
For now, he wasn't ready to forgive the pig.]
April 7th, evening | action
[He can't keep the amused look off his face, even if he's trying not to laugh outright at his friend. He pulled a handkerchief from his kimono sleeve and handed it to Cliff. Saizou, on the other hand, was unrepentant and sitting behind the couch, chewing on the sandwich.]
You have a little print on your forehead.
April 7th, evening | action
[He was only half serious, despite his complaints. Cliff took the handkercheif and rubbed it on his forehead, trying to get the little foot print off without too much indignity.]
This is a lively place, for sure. Did you say the chicken was called Fish?
April 7th, evening | action
[Souji giggled a little at the sight of Cliff rubbing off the hoofprint and then went over to his bedroom door. He ducked inside and emerged again a few moments later with a hen in his arms.]
This is Fish. [The hen clucked.] In the kitchen is Dog, the goldfish. And out back is Tammy, the big yellow...bird. I think someone said she was a chocobo. She can talk and can be a little impatient when being fed, so just tell her to wait and she'll let you put it down before she starts eating.
[Saizou grunted and came out from behind the couch, a small triangle of the sandwich still hanging from his mouth.]
And that is Saizou.
April 7th, evening | action
[It was spoken to Saizou when he emerged, and Cliff gave the pig a sharp, pointed look before he continued.]
So we've got Fish the bird, Dog the fish, Tammy the...something weird. Chocobo. Whatever. And Grumpy here. [He frowned thoughtfully and returned to his initial conclusion.] This is some kinda zoo, isn't it? [He shrugged. It was rhetorical, and he didn't care about any answer.] 'Least its comfy. And entertaining.
April 7th, evening | action
It's what happens when I'm left to my own devices for too long. I also have pandas, but they aren't real.
[Giant stuffed animal panda. Fun fun.]
I'm glad you like it though.
April 7th, evening | action
It ain't a bad place, for sure. I wasn't expecting so many animals, but it does have its charm.
When do we get to meet your roomie? Or is that gonna be something that'll happen on its own?
April 7th, evening | action
Oh, I can see if she's home. I just saw her this afternoon, so she might be.
[And he'll go off to see if Kohaku is in]
April 7th, evening | action
April 7th, evening | action
Kohaku-chan? There's someone here I'd like you to meet. Would you come out for a moment?
April 7th, evening | action
She'll be right at her door, poking her head out to find the new person.]
April 7th, evening | action
This is Cliff-san. He'll be coming to help you take care of our zoo. Cliff-san, this is Kohaku-chan, my friend and roommate.
April 7th, evening | action
He held a hand out in greeting.]
Hi. It's nice meeting you, Kohaku.
April 7th, evening | action
It's nice to meet you too.
April 7th, evening | action
His life is the most awesome life.]
Why don't you two get to know each other a little while I make some tea?
[Or rather, two teas and one milk and honey for Kohaku.]
