[The text showed up in the journals around dawn, in the style of a wanted ad in the newspaper-- if Luceti had a newspaper. The letters were straight and friendly. The message was concise:]

[That was all Cliff needed to do. He had spent the last month or so just toying with it as a side project, taking his time with the plans, materials, and other details of the table. He found proper measurements for everything and made sure that it was up to professional standards.

Anyone who dares to tell him that ping pong isn't a sport is liable to get payback for the suggestion. Somehow.

Cliff took off for the day after the announcement, after scribbling out a quick note for Fayt that he was headed out. Luceti was relatively safe, but he preferred to keep his people informed of what he was doing. His first stop is Seventh Heaven to grab a bite to eat, since the man can't cook for the life of him. There's a reason he's banned from the kitchen, after all. Throughout the day afterward he can be found in various parts of the plaza, gathering supplies for what looks like a trip to the Beach. With the weather getting warmer, he saw no reason to not take advantage of what the sea had to offer. Diving under to see the fish was always fun, after all.

[What? He could totally carry around a ping pong table like it was a puppy.]

[ And true to her word, Korra will be waiting outside the convenient store just after sundown. ]

[Cliff arrives not long later, with the neatly folded table balanced on his shoulder and the accessories in a duffle bag that he carried by his side.

Upon arrival, he grinned.]

You ready to play?

[ Huh, she's impressed he could carry that thing. Not bad. She nods, crossing her arms. ]

I'm always ready. Let's get this thing in position.

[He's tall, and a Klausian. By nature alone, his people are three times stronger than the average human...and Cliff is an athlete. Lifting a table like that wasn't a problem for him.]

Yeah. [He quickly scanned the area, looking for anyone that could notice them and taking stock of what was available to them.]

You didn't happen to bring a ladder along, did you?

We've got once in the supply closet. Hang on - I'll grab it.

[ Korra heads through the door of the store, reappearing a moment later with a ladder. ]

Great.

[Clearly, Cliff had the sense of humor of a prankster that was half his age. He was grinning like a particularly devious college kid with too much time on his hands.

He set the table down and moved to help Korra with the ladder.]

Did you have an idea of where you wanted to put this, hold it down and all that?
It'd suck if a storm blew by and tossed it off.

[Or rowdy kids. Or drunk people with too much to do. He knew the crazy things that boredom could convince a person to do.]

Uh....

[ Oh, right, practical things she should have thought of before now. She helps settle the ladder, before glancing back at the table. ]

We've got some elastic rope in the shop. I bet we can tie it down and set up some kind of perimeter with that.

Rope, huh?

[Cliff's gaze darted from the table to the roof as he considered this.]

That'll work for now. We might wanna think about nailing the legs in somehow...but, that'll be something to do later.

[He shifted the table forward and flipped it over so that it was leaning against the ladder. It wasn't terribly heavy for him, but the size and shape were awkward enough that the actual transport became a question of physics rather than strength.]

Mind keeping tabs on the ladder while I get this thing up?

[He slid it up along the rungs, physically indicating what he intended to do.]

Just gonna push her up. It won't take too long.

I bet I can con Masaomi into doing that.

[ Something to work on during their next shift together, anyway.

Korra moves to brace the ladder while Cliff climbs. ]

Yeah, no problem. Take your time.

[He started upward, pushing the table ahead of him on the lightweight body of the ladder. It should have been sturdy enough to hold everything, and it wasn't that long of a climb as it was.

Cliff spared Korra a glance downward, curious about her plan.]

...Who's Masaomi?

He's my coworker. [ And friend, too, honestly. ] He's always hitting on me, so I can use that to my advantage this time.

...Huh. Well, I think I'd be hitting on you too if I wasn't so old. You're pretty damn fun!

[With a final heft he brought the table up to the roof and waved her up.]

If he likes you that much, you might also be able to talk him into setting a cover up here. We might be needing a roof on the roof to protect it from the rain.

Good idea. I'll plug that into the deal, too.

[He grinned.]

Do ya think he's up to it? I mean, it could be a tad tricky if he's only got flirting on the mind.

[ She takes the final step over the edge of the roof from the ladder. ]

I won't know for sure until I try.

So he's really that reliable, huh?

[This could get interesting...]

If I can use my womanly charms on him, then I'd say so.

[Cliff started unfolding the table and setting the equipment up properly while she spoke, grinning all the while. He didn't need to know the guy to know that the answer was obvious.]

Awesome. [He finished up and stepped back to admire his work.] Yanno, this'll definitely be a good deal up here if we put a little work into it.

[Further details, like access and safety precautions, could be dealt with later. For the moment, he was just glad that his piece had a proper place to call home]

[ She nods, grinning as she appraises his work. ]

Not bad, not bad at all. Up for a game?

[Cliff pulled a paddle from his duffle bag and tossed it at her.]

Always. Did ya even need to ask?

[ Haha, now they're talking. Korra catches the paddle. ]

You're prepared and everything. Nicely done.

Hey, can't lug around something like this and not bring the whole deal.

[He grinned and tossed a little white plastic ball at her.]

Question is, are you ready? Fun and games are one thing, but this ain't a velcro set up.

[ She caught the ball, and got into a stance at her end of the table. ]

Oh, trust me. I was born ready.
