You were already an old man.

[He laughed a little as he teased and watched as Cliff went through his gifts. Inside the medium box which was tied with a light yellow ribbon, Cliff would find a variety of different toys - made for puppies: a leash, chewtoy in various shapes and dog treats in two flavors. It had been awhile since they had changed out of their animal bodies, but Souji was curious to see if he'd remember.]

I told you I didn't mind.

[Cliff's eyes widened and jaw dropped when he opened the box, exposing it's contents. Souji's words were lost on him by that point-- utterly confused, he pulled out a little plush and gave it an experimental squeeze.

It squeaked.]

...Wow. You really were serious about the toys!

I don't shirk on my promises.

[He reached over and grabbed a different toy, squeezing it with a smile a mile wide.]

[Cliff laughed, and dropping the toy back into the box to examine yet another.]

Pity I'm not a dog anymore-- these things look like they'd be fun!

[Okay, time to tease.

Souji dropped the squeaky toy and picked up the dog collar and leash.]

Not all of these things are exclusive to dogs.

[His brows lifted in surprise at those words. He looked up at Souji, bemused.]

...

I had no idea you were into that kinda stuff, Souji.

You're not?

[You know, into taking animals other than dogs for walks, he meant. Not that he'd say that at all.]

[Cliff scratched his chin, considering this.]

...Well, I'm not one to judge. I'm not opposed to experimenting a little myself so long as everyone's on board. Though, ropes or handcuffs are more likely than a collar and leash.

[Bingo - time to mess with him.]

Why would you use handcuffs when taking a pet for a walk?

Wait-- we're taking a pet for a walk?

[He realized the trick too late...and had walked right into it.]

Why, what were you thinking about?

[Although the barely hidden grin on Souji's face probably gave away how badly Cliff had fallen into the trap.]

Uh...nothin'.

[Cliff started packing the contents of the box back in place, deciding that it was a good time to change the subject. He had no idea about how to explain this one...]

[He snickered and reached over, poking Cliff lightly in the cheek.]

Don't tell me I made you grumpy finally.

No!

[Cliff snorted and tossed his head.]

That one's really tricky to explain, that's all.

[Souji leaned back, pulling his hand down to clasp both of them over one knee, head tilted so he could look up at the ceiling in an expression of innocent confusion.]

Is it because you're interested, or because you're not though?

Well, uh...that?

[Headscratch. How was he supposed to respond to this one?]

I, uh...

I ain't against it if that's how you like it.

[He leaned a little toward Cliff, grinning wide.]

I do it everyday.

Walks are healthy for you.

[Cliff pulled back on instinct, flushing slightly in the face of such an extreme misunderstanding.]

Uh. Right. That's healthy to do sometimes too.

You should try it with me sometime.

[He settled back and tapped the edge of the box.]

I think it might be interesting.

[Cliff grinned-- a lopsided, boyish expression that revealed his amusement.]

Sure. It'll be nice to get out after all his time inside-- but, only if you promise me you'll watch the teasing. You're too much!

Is it too much for your heart?

[Souji snickered a little.] If so, it makes me worry about what will happen should we do anything more strenuous.

[Cliff chuckled-- Oh, Souji...

In a sudden movement he reached across the package and grasped the folds of Souji's clothes with a big hand and leaned in, grinning wolfishly.]

Trust me-- you won't worry about any of that if that's the way you want things to go.

[Then, reaching a little further, he pressed his lips against Souji's for a quick kiss.]

[He flinched when Cliff grabbed his clothes suddenly, not used to having anyone grab him without having ill intent. But the way Cliff grinned made him relax - at least until Cliff kissed him. Even a quick one was enough to throw him off balance since he still wasn't used to physical affection. Souji stared at Cliff, dumbfounded, for just a moment longer than necessary before he suddenly laughed, light and easy.]

I didn't think you'd be so enthusiastic about jogging.

[Cliff winked playfully, all confidence, and chuckled in his amusement over the sheer level of silliness that was going on here.]

Only if jogging's what you wanna call it. 'Sides, I'll always be enthusiastic when there's someone gorgeous involved!

I don't know what else you would call it.

[Other than whatever Cliff was apparently thinking of - which wasn't entirely his fault. Souji had teased him.]

And I suppose I'll have to find someone gorgeous for you to run with. I only see handsome people here.

[Only girls are gorgeous, Cliff. 8| ]
