[He flinched when Cliff grabbed his clothes suddenly, not used to having anyone grab him without having ill intent. But the way Cliff grinned made him relax - at least until Cliff kissed him. Even a quick one was enough to throw him off balance since he still wasn't used to physical affection. Souji stared at Cliff, dumbfounded, for just a moment longer than necessary before he suddenly laughed, light and easy.]

I didn't think you'd be so enthusiastic about jogging.

[Cliff winked playfully, all confidence, and chuckled in his amusement over the sheer level of silliness that was going on here.]

Only if jogging's what you wanna call it. 'Sides, I'll always be enthusiastic when there's someone gorgeous involved!

I don't know what else you would call it.

[Other than whatever Cliff was apparently thinking of - which wasn't entirely his fault. Souji had teased him.]

And I suppose I'll have to find someone gorgeous for you to run with. I only see handsome people here.

[Only girls are gorgeous, Cliff. 8| ]

[Souji had teased him horribly. Cliff playfully poked Souji in the nose in a small play at retaliation, grinning.]

Handsome. Gorgeous. Hot is hot, Souji. And you're in the top class in any world.

[Nope nope nope. Souji gave Cliff a confused look, leaning away.]

You have a definite bias, I think.

[Cliff simply grinned-- Souji was too cute.]

No doubt, but that doesn't change things.

[Souji shook his head, rolling his eyes slightly. It was actually impressive how Cliff had managed to turn that around.]

Well~ Then I hope you don't mind me taking advantage of that bias.

Go ahead: take advantage of as much as you want.

[Yes, he knew he was only going to encourage bad behavior, but he simply didn't care.]

[He laughed lightly and then pushed himself up off the couch, dusting his lap off.]

Then I'll stop holding back. Maybe I'll have you take Fish and Saizou on a walk someday so I don't have to.

[Cliff chuckled at the little threat, not entirely convinced of how real it actually was.]

How about I just walk Fish, and you walk Saizou. Somehow I don't think the little guy'd appreciate me walking him yet.

You said you wanted to get along with him better. This is a perfect opportunity.

[aerialassault]

Who said this isn't? We could alway walk them together, yanno.

[ahappylie]

[He shook his head, waving his hands in front of him.] Ooooh, no. If I'm there, he'll get even more protective.

[aerialassault]

[Cliff stared, confusion evident on his face.]

Then what am I gonna do with him if he decides he doesn't wanna work with me? You know he's stubborn!

[ahappylie]

And so are you.

You'll find a way to make friends with him, or he'll keep trying to bite your knees. One way or another, you'll have to make up.

Yeah, yeah. I know...

[He ran a hand through his hair, making a mental note to carry carrots with him at all times in the future. With the way Souji roamed around, there was no telling when Saizou would show up!]

[ahappylie]

[Well...It is Cliff's birthday. He turned and placed a quick but affectionate kiss on the top of Cliff's head before walking away, circling around to the back of the couch.]

Good luck with him. He's a little grumpy, but he isn't terrible.

[Cliff blinked in surprise at the sudden affectionate gesture from Souji, and swiveled around in his seat while he tried to follow Souji's movements around the room.]

Wait. What are you doing?

[ahappylie]

If you're worried I have Saizou hidden somewhere in your room, you don't have to be.

[He leaned against the back of the couch, resting on his forearms.]

You certainly can be paranoid when he's involved.

[aerialassault]

[Cliff chuckled, scratching his head in embarrassment.]

I just wanna make sure he doesn't take me by surprise again. There's no carrots around to help!

Here, next time you come by, I'll let you play fetch with him for a bit. Maybe that will help ease you two into a better relationship.

[Or end up with Saizou slamming into Cliff's ankles in an attempt to get the bone.]
