006 [Action/Audio]

[Action: Locked to Souji Okita]

[Consciousness crept upon him slowly, like a migraine. It slipped in through the window panels with the sun and stung his eyes, but for once Cliff did not want to awaken. He instead rolled over with a groan, burying his face under his arms and promising himself another ten minutes.

But a nagging sensation in the back of his mind kept sleep at bay. He knew in his gut that it was something important, something that was blue and white...

...Fayt.

His eyes snapped open as he crashed into the memories. The dogs and the cultists were all a blur, but the spear stood out in his mind. It was only when he sat up that he registered the not-entirely familiar surroundings and the warm body lying by his side.]

[Action: Locked to Fayt Leingod]

[He messed up, and there was no way to fix and forget about the mess that he had left for everyone to deal with in the battlefield that was once Zompania. It was afternoon by the time he returned to his apartment in the ground building, wearing a fresh set of denim jeans and a comfortable tee-- both of which fit because of some miracle. The dark shades he wore were new, as was he bag he carried by his side that contained the clothes he borrowed off of Souji and yet another set of loose white pants to add to his small collection.

Entering as quietly as he could manage, Cliff did a once-over of the apartment to make sure that things were still mostly as he left it. The Vac whirred and hummed patiently as it made a pass over the carpet, and Cliff found himself smiling.

At least that was still functioning.

After throwing his belongings into his room, he made for Fayt's. A quiet knock was the only warning he gave before he nudged the door open...]

[Audio: Open to All]

Yo. It's Cliff.

[It was dark by the time he reached for his journal, but he didn't care. There were plenty of other people that he wanted to see, but there was no way he could go visit them all in one day.

This was the next best thing.]

Can I get a headcount of who all's here and a tally on the damage? And, is the bar open?

[He'll be heading there later if he get's confirmation. For once, he plans to drink unil the damage doesn't look so bad.]

Well, I am the Boomerang Guy, the Meat Guy, and the Sarcasm Guy. Three people in one. [He counts off each of those on his fingers, holding up the number three as if to prove it all.]

You're a bodyguard? For someone famous? Anyone worth getting an autograph from?

[Details, details.

Sokka curbs his enthusiasm after Cliff summarizes the details on his friend. In part, it's about not getting an autograph. In part, it's because Sokka knows he's at least broached a sensitive subject. (Not that that's stopped him before though.)]

Ah. Sounds a lot like Toph from my world. Nobody would have ever asked for her autograph, but she creamed the biggest Earthbending champion I ever knew. [Not that he knew that many, though.] So what's your world like?

You mean, space? You can actually go there? I mean, I made a sword out of a meteor that came falling down once upon a time, but I never ever thought of being able to go there.

[Then again, Sokka never thought of being able to fly before meeting Appa and Aang, so...]

Well, it's some sort of magic stuff that manipulates the ground, rocks, and—if you're good enough—metal. Toph was able to pull up solid chunks of stone from the ground and hurl them at people, fling us into the air like a catapault would by moving the ground underneath us, and able to tear holes in metal.

[There is more than a little bit of amazement in his eye as Cliff starts to talk about space travel. Sokka's attention is practically fixated on him.]

Wow. What I wouldn't do to actually see one of those ships up close so I could figure out how they work. I mean, I'm sure they're slightly more complicated than submarines and tanks but...

As far as magic goes... I wish I knew. Bending is a talent that you're born with, and I don't have the talent for it. But my sister can bend water and ice. Zuko could bend fire and lightning. And Aang could control air and all the other elements because he's the Avatar.

[As for Sokka, it's nice to run into someone that's more warrior and less magician, truth be told. It's nice to know that he's in relatively good company in this world. Though the thought of possibly being able to actually learn magic was a crazy one. He wasn't entirely certain whether or not, if he had been there, whether or not he'd have jumped at that opportunity or not.]

I honestly don't know what I'd do if I had the opportunity to learn magic. I used to think it was all this weird, useless hocus pocus stuff, but all of my good friends can do it, and it's saved us so many times...

But that said, I would love to see this copy of your "speed demon"! [Like seriously, Sokka is crazy excited to see this. He doesn't exactly know exactly what this copy will be like, or even what to expect of this ship, but he'd love to see it.] How big is the real thing?

[Well, it's not like Sokka would expect to get the best advice from Cliff on the subject of magic anyway; for now, it's just the seed of a thought. As far as ships goes though, Sokka is dying to know.]

Well, size and form wouldn't be the important parts of a ship anyway; the important part is that it can actually fly... and second that it can do so fast enough.

Just how fast is fast though?

Man, we could have used your ship more than once! Aang's flying bison might be able to fly long distances, but it certainly took a long time to travel. It took us the better part of a year to see the whole world.

[It is a shame the actual ship isn't here, but what can you do?]

I suppose that is true. [After all, there were a lot of side-trips that they made over the course of their journey.] Though making a quick escape from the guys that were chasing us still would have been useful.

And it was pretty fun. Though it's weird. At first, I never seemed to want to leave the South Pole, and after our journey, I never seemed to make my way back home for very long. I guess it leaves a mark on a man.

[Sokka takes a final drink out of his milkshake, leaving the glass empty.]
