[It was midday that he addressed the village as a whole, without any lead-in or hint of apology in his tone for being so goddamn casual.]
I'm lookin' for a friend of mine. He's got long hair and has a pet pig-- lemme know if you see him.

[It was training, Souji had been insisting for the last few weeks when he set an enraged, squealing Saizou upon him without any warning. Speed training for a little game between the two of them that they both had a stake in. And, finally-- after many days of running from the grumpy little pig-- the game was on.
Cliff had 24 hours to catch Souji. Truth be told, he had no idea what the little prankster was up to.
He'll be anywhere and everywhere around town that day, searching every corner and under every table for any hint of that teasing smile...all the while remaining on high alert for anything that would attempt to dive-bomb him.]

Alright. I'm down by the barracks, so it'll take me a bit to get there...you don't mind, do you?

He arrived not long later, his heavy breathing making it clear that he had jogged the distance between the barracks and House One on the far northern end of town. Lifting a hand, he shaded his eyes from the sunlight as he got a better look at the very large, double story house.
He whistled softly, long and low.]
Wow. Nice digs!

However, he might notice the furry bolt that rushes over to start sniffing at his shoes enthusiastically, leaving Tear with surprise before she can even say anything as he barks—] Such Tall!
[It seems Colonel still remembers Cliff from before.]

Colonel? You live here too?
[Kneeling down, he scratched the dog's ears and shot an inquiring glance up at Tear.]
I didn't know that you knew Ion.

I wasn't aware you knew Ion either, we're from the same world and he lives here, too.

[He mentally made a tally of people he had already met from that world-- Florian, Ion, Jade, possibly Nephry, and now Tear. Despite the circumstances, Ion was a very lucky kid.]
He's sure got a lot of people around. I've just been helping him get back on his feet over the last couple months, that's all.
