...Vacations are funny, aren't they? If they last long enough, they can start to get kinda boring.

[The commentary filtered through the pages of the journal system around midday, as if it was just a part of a conversation between two individuals instead of a public address. Cliff's tone was as relaxed and casual as always, for those who knew him. There was a faint hum in the otherwise quiet background.]

I mean, the downtime is nice, but I'm kinda tired of it-- which should answer any questions about 'why' and what not, so don't bother askin'.

The name's Cliff Fittir, if any of you here don't know, and I figured I'd offer my services. If any of you want a sparring partner, trainer, teacher or whatever, I'm available. Just say something if you're interested.

And if you're not...then could ya tell me what this cool thing is?

[He flipped the video on at this point, revealing a small circular device methodically rolling across the carpet.]

I've got an idea already, which brings me to Question Two: Is there a way to get good tech supplies without needing to go outside?

[He ends the feed at that, but will be prompt with replies.]

[Cliff set off about town, looking for the aforementioned tech supplies so he could properly play with his new toy, though he would be keeping his eyes and ears alert for any of his friends and students to check up on. After a several week absence followed by a Shift that had made him appear as a young woman, there hadn't been much chance to see his people without having to answer more questions than he wanted. Furthermore, there were people that he met during that Shift that he wanted to clear things up with, one way or another.

However, he had plans for that evening...]

Yo. You better have some free time tonight.

[He had questions...but, more importantly, he had plans for both of them.]

Yeah! There are a lot o' the same kind, like Pikachu isn't th' only Pikachu. But there are a lot o' other Pokemon too!

Then would there be any about....[He lifted his hand above his head,] this high.

[It's pretty tall. Cliff himself is taller than the average Earthling man, not that it would be easy to see in a video.]

Yeah! Umm [ Thinking of a Pokemon or two ] Snorlax is pretty tall! Dragonite too!

[Fayt suspected something of the same. Glancing at the ring once more, he slips it in his pocket for safekeeping. No point in wearing it when he wasn't going to use it more right now.]

Same here. Let's just call it luck and be glad for it, yeah? [If it really was bribery, they must think they were pretty simple minded.]

[That settled it.]

See? I think I'd rather fight one of those myself instead of sending your little friend in. But, I don't quite get why you guys train monsters to fight monsters anyway.

[Headscratch. There, he said it.]

Fight 'em yourself? Are y' strong enough t' be able to do that? Pokemon have already been beside us. They're not just monsters they're out friends too!

[He laughed softly.]

Hah. Yeah, let's.

[They couldn't control the things that happened by luck, so there was no point in worrying over it.

A few more steps in the cold night brought them to the plaza, and that much closer to their destination.]

...Man. They better have something good and hot on the menu tonight.

Man, a hot meal would be nice. [And he was getting really hungry. He'd planned a late dinner to begin with, but this? This was a heck of a lot better. He shoves both his hands into his pockets again in an effort to keep them warm.]

I was just going to have a sandwich before, but this is definitely the better plan.

No work and no cleanup.

[It was a good excuse to just relax and talk, possibly touch base over a few drinks... Just like old times, in a way.]

But, I've gotta say, it's a shame that you-know-who's still bothered by all that. Would'a been a nice change to have him around for once.

Kid, you don't wanna know the answer to that question. [It would sound like bragging, and that was just stupid to do to a kid over the journals.]

Why don't we talk about this 'monsters as friends' thing instead? I've never heard of that before.

[Yeah, it would have been, but....

He really needed to talk to Albel. This whole avoidance game had gone on way too long for Fayt's tastes, and if he was being honest, it was worrying. It was his first real 'uncomfortable' shift, and the reaction certainly didn't bode well for the future.] He'll get over it eventually. If not, I'll see about talking to him.

But hey, he snoozes he loses, right? Maybe we can all go together another time.

[Albel would have to adapt or they would all be miserable-- that was the bottom line, in Cliff's eyes, but he knew that there was no rushing Albel the Wicked of the Black Brigade.]

Yeah, maybe. For all we know, he's gonna find out 'bout this and throw a fit at us-- and that'll show him for moping for too long.

[He cracked a grin, clearly enjoying his own joke.]

[ He's pouting at that answer but not for long because the question Cliff asked is about friendship and pokemon. in one. ]

All my Pokemon are my friends! Pikachu here is my best buddy!

It's very good of you, Cliff-san.

[She smiles, very clearly agreeing with him.]

Have you got any time in mind, specifically?

[Cute vacuum contraption aside—]

That's an awfully wide range of services you're offering.

[Fayt lets out a short laugh, returning that grin with one of his own.] And then he'll sulk more because we didn't take him?

It could explain why he's been so grumpy lately... I thought that maybe it was just due to the cold.

Well, maybe if you played with him a little more he'd loosen up around you?

Yep, because that guy doesn't even need a reason for it.

[Cliff wasn't complaining about it either-- a part of him was grateful that Luceti hadn't changed any of them too drastically yet. Then again, there was always reason to be grateful for ~~relatively~~ peaceful times.]

Cold makes a lotta people grumpy, [,such as Albel, or even himself,] but I can try that if you think it'll work.

[Nevermind that he didn't know how to play with a pig, but anything was better than having the little guy perform an Air Raid on him for absolutely no reason.]

Uhm...alright then.

[Headscratch. It was becoming clear that this was not someone to ask about ethical and moral details regarding pokemon training.]

Anyway, I can tell you for sure that the Vac here ain't one of your pokemon. It's a machine, some kinda vacuum by the looks of it, and I was wondering if anyone had ever seen anything similar.

[He himself had seen plenty of more advanced models on a starship in another dimension, but that was beside the point.]

None what-so-ever, but I've got a totally open schedule. How did you wanna arrange things between all of your work with the Shrine and all?

That's true enough. [That grin grows. Even if they were stuck here for another year, Fayt had already decided that he wasn't going to let this place tear him up much. They'd find a way out eventually... but for now? They'd manage. It was really kind of pleasant here, shifts aside.]

[Oh, hey. It's the kid who makes fantastic breakfasts at Seventh Heaven.]

Well, I've got an awfully large amount of free time on my hands, so I thought I'd diversify myself a bit. You interested in any of it?

[Cliff could handle mostly pleasant. It had it's merits, and he planned to enjoy those for as long as they could.]

Welp, [he said, slowing down as they came upon Good Spirits.] we're here. You ready to go break a few laws?

[That gets yet another snort of laughter from Fayt.] Think it's a little too late for that. Breaking a few more won't hurt at this point.

[He's pretty sure they've broken at least two dozen federation laws, Drinking underage is hardly a drop in the bucket.]
