[The words, made audible through an accidental feed on the journal that Cliff threw aside, were cut off by the crack of splintering wood as his fist slammed into it at full throttle. Cliff had finally awoken from his shift-induced dream, and he was pissed. It was just unfortunate that the first person he saw that morning had to be the target for his frustration at the Malnosso.

He was going to crush their captors...after he crushed Albel Nox.

It wasn't going to be pretty.]

Sorry 'bout the mess this morning. Technical difficulties. Won't happen again.

Now. What the hell was that last week? A shift? That's one helluva-- [He stopped and took a deep, calming breath.] Don't tell me that happens all the time.

I'm more than game if anyone wants to work off some stress. See ya at the Barracks. Or the Dome. I dunno.

[True to his word, Cliff could be found at both the Barracks and the Battle Dome at various points throughout the day, as he restlessly wandered between the two facilities because neither actually fit his needs for the moment. A good spar was what he had in mind, although he wouldn't say no to company with someone that didn't know him and was actually sane.

Don't worry. He'll be cool.]

Nothing will change if either of you fight. There will still be a village, and you will still be within vicinity of each-other.

[Suddenly, she comes to think of the situation Luke once told him about -- what if a Covenant Elite ever arrived in here.]

You either fight senselessly and lose health and powers senselessly, or you ignore eachother.

I remember that weekend. Well. I remember not remembering. It was damn freaky too, kid. But they changed the village too?

Agh. Now I'm wonderin' what else they have planned for us.

I dunno 'bout you, but I'm sick and tired of getting sucked into someone else's wars.

[Cliff scratched his head thoughtfully as he considered this girl's words. There was a point there, and a damn good one, but there was something else...]

Ya know, Albel? I don't think she gets it.

[So she was less like Maria and more like Sophia in her combat style then. That was all the answer Cliff needed. While Maria used her phase guns, Sophia always did hang in the back to cast her Symbols. He grinned at the thought.]

Alright then. Here I go!

[He charged at the nearest Youma to start off, closing the distance in a flash as he barreled toward it in a tackle. If the game was to cover the mage while she did her work, he could play it with no problem.]

[There would probably be a point in all that if it weren't for the fact that this isn't so much a fight with a purpose as it is a grudge match. They're fighting because they're in one another's vicinity. Among other things, of course, but Albel can't just let Cliff exist in his general vicinity without challenging him for it. It's kind of what they've been doing ever since they first laid eyes on each other.

And so Albel gives an eyeroll and shrugs his good shoulder to confirm Cliff's opinion. For once, they can agree.]

Listen, woman. We have no intention of destroying your precious buildings or the villagers. That would be sloppy. But there is no ignoring. There will be no walking away.

[Freaky...yeah. Pretty freaky. Not knowing what had happened and what could have happened. He just absentmindedly brings a hand to his neck as he rubs it. He remembers he had a dull pain in his neck after that day...but he's not sure what he could have done to do that.]

But, who knows. Maybe they'll set a horde of vicious cats at us with what it looks like they usually do.

[Fire streaked out of her hands, engulfing a group of Dead Hands that charged at Cliff. The Youma fought back with claws and stuff too, but it was clumsy. The Dark Kingdom's minions weren't really all that dangerous if you could really fight.

Of course, the small army of Dead Hands coming was a bit harder, Rei hadn't made this easy.]

[The idea of being toyed with was what bothered Cliff, although he knew that he should be used to it by now. It was something that he saw everyday back at home...but it still bothered him.]

Actually, cats I can handle. Just...

not mushrooms.

I think anyone can handle cats.
But, are you allergic to them or something?

[His grin was slow and lazy, like that of a man after a good day on the surf...or a confident brawler. Their fight was nothing more than the standard, and they both knew on some level that they wouldn't die. They were assets on the field that were too valuable to break, if the war between Aeriglyph and Aquaria proved anything.

Not that it would stop them from trying.

Cliff cracked his knuckles and decided to ignore the girl. Their point was made...and time out was over.]

Hey. Grumpy. Heads up!

[He took the lead again, attempting to completely bypass the girl and deliver a punch to his supposed 'rival'.]

They're annoying.

[Clumsy creatures were easy pickings for Cliff. All it took was a cool head, the sense of focus that took him years of being kicked around by his best friend to attain, and his Electric Fists to do the job. The Dead Hands, however, were a different kind of deal. He could handle brawls with no problem; mobs were a different story. He could dodge, but speed and distance weren't his specialties.

He had one option, but he wasn't certain how effective it would be. It took only a second to ground himself and draw on the energy that he had--

and unleash it in full in his Sphere of Might.]

[Well the Youma goes down like a sack of potatoes. It wasn't really a strong one, even for the Dark Kingdom.

And the Dead Hands...they're pretty mindless, and they keep running right into the blossoming fireball and...whatever it was Cliff was doing.]

But...but they're food. How can food be annoying?

[This guy doesn't seem to make much sense does he?]

[He could comment on how he's actually fighting a war and being responsible for sucking others into it, buuuuut leaving that out.]

It would seem so. Do you often get thrown into different wars, Cliff-san?

[Albel was wondering how long Cliff would be able to stand still. It doesn't surprise him much that it isn't long. Albel ducks neatly underneath the punch and comes back up, claw swinging. Cliff is a little too close to draw the Crimson Scourge without disemboweling him... which would ruin half the fun.

But, true to their word, Albel does hop back to lure Cliff to the stairs. Time to go outside. And then try to destroy each other.

Sorry, Daisy, the moment has passed.]

Hey, Missie. Is this all ya got?

[Because this was why he hated battle sims. All flashy stuff without the punch.]

I take it you've never had a mob of 'em crawlin' all over, have ya?

[As if in answer to that, an opponent appears, sideswiping Cliff with a suckerpunch. A tall, blonde man in a grey suit. Jadeite.]

I programmed a few surprises. [Rei sounds bored as she stares at the Dark Moon General.]

I am here to fight! As you requested! [Yes, shouting. Very loud, deep, echoy shouty. Stuff]

[...He laughs.]

No fair using my line against me.

[A mob?]

Weeeee...aren't talking about the same thing here are we?

Whoa!

[Reflexes kicked in and he dodged the blow--barely. There was a reason that bullets didn't work on Klausians, and it wasn't because they were extremely durable. Cliff returned fire with a punch of his own. Two could play that game!]

You're better than I thought. Who is this guy?
